Craft Hope!

May 10, 2011

Craft Hope Spreading seeds of hope one stitch at a timeOne of my very favorite blogs, Craft Hope, currently has two service projects going on!  The whole idea of the site is to get home-made things to people who need them!  The first program they had that really caught my eye was getting delivery kits to pregnant women in Haiti who were giving birth without even any kind of sanitizer.

The projects going on right now are hand-made bracelets for orphans in Russia, which you can read about here, and hand-made blankets for families who were part of the devastating tornadoes across the United States, which you can read about here.  They will both add little rays of hope to people who need it.  Neither one requires huge amounts of skill, so anyone can help!  There are tons of fun bracelet ideas that you can even get your little ones involved in.  Here is my favorite bracelet idea.  It’s a braided jersey bracelet, so you can make it out of old tee-shirts, the cost is $0, and you’ll make something cute for someone who doesn’t have very much of their very own.

There are a lot of great and easy blanket ideas out there, too.  Craft Hope is taking anything from swaddling blanket, to full size adult blanket to send to families hit by the tornadoes.  Here’s a little video explaining how to make no-sew fleece blankets.  I’m off to see what I can whip up!  People are in great need, so the deadline for blankets is June 15!  Let me know if you are working on either of these projects!
